The June 2010 issue of News Photographer magazine features a cover story by NBC News anchor Ann Curry about the role empathy plays in photojournalism. A four-time Emmy Award winning journalist who is also an accomplished still photographer, Curry is recognized for her war and humanitarian reporting, including her coverage of the war in Darfur which has killed hundreds of thousands and displaced more than a million Sudanese.
Also in this issue, Stephen Wolgast reviews a new two-DVD set about Henri Cartier-Bresson that's filled with 11 movies, documentaries, interviews, and extra features about the great photojournalist; Bruce Young takes a look at the history of the White House Press Corps and how we got to where we are today, including the current strife between the still photographers and the Obama administration and the toll the economy has taken on covering what was at one time this country's premier assignment; Pam Smith writes about Ohio University's annual multimedia and Web project, "The Soul Of Athens," now in its fourth year; Seth Gitner's Multimedia Moments recaps NPPA's Multimedia Immersion Workshop, just completed at Syracuse University; and NPPA past president Bill Luster's reaction to winning this year's Joseph A.
